Daniel Helfgott and Janet Turner first worked together on the film “DREAMS OF GOLD”, which they shot in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The film starred Cliff Robertson and Loretta Swit as real-life couple Mel and Deo Fisher, who spent much of their lives searching for the jewel of sunken treasure, the Spanish galleon, the Atocha. Along the way they battled corrupt state officials, greedy federal agencies, and sadly, lost their son and daughter-in-law to the sea. But in the end, they not only found $400,000,000 worth of treasure, they took on and defeated the U.S. government in the United States Supreme Court. It was a landmark decision for all the dreamers of the world. Daniel produced the film and Janet ran the production office.

The next film they produced together. “ABANDONED & DECEIVED” came about when Janet, who was then a national talk-show producer, met Geraldine Jensen, founder of A.C.E.S., the first-of-its-kind national organization dedicated to helping custodial parents collect child support. Janet immediately saw the dramatic potential of Geraldine’s story and secured the rights, then together, they took the project to ABC, which ordered the film. Starring Lori Laughlin, the film had an immediate impact, helping thousands of women collect child support, and was then purchased by Lifetime where it ran over and over.

From that film they decided to form a company together, and almost immediately produced the award-winning film “THE THIN BLUE LIE”, the true story of a police department that was out of control, and the heroic reporter who risked his life to expose it. The reporter, Jonathan Neumann, and his partner, not only went on to help clean up the city of Philadelphia, but helped bring down the administration of Mayor Frank Rizzo. Their series of articles won them the Pulitzer Prize.
